Mozzarella Baked Gnocchi Bolognese

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  3. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground beef and sausage, breaking them apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink.
  5. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes to allow flavors to blend.
  6. Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook for about 2–3 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Drain well.
  7. Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet with the sauce, stirring gently to coat evenly.
  8. Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  9. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly with golden edges.
  10. Remove from the oven, let rest for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
