Directions
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add chopped onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground beef and sausage, breaking them apart with a spoon. Cook until browned and no longer pink.
- Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Reduce heat and simmer for 10–15 minutes to allow flavors to blend.
- Meanwhile, bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook for about 2–3 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Drain well.
- Add the cooked gnocchi to the skillet with the sauce, stirring gently to coat evenly.
- Transfer the mixture to a baking dish and top with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly with golden edges.
- Remove from the oven, let rest for a few minutes, and garnish with fresh basil before serving.
