Homemade Baguette

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the water and flour. Add the oil, yeast, and salt. Mix thoroughly until a smooth ball of dough forms.
  2. Grease a separate bowl, place the dough ball inside, cover with cling film, and let it rest at room temperature for 2 hours until doubled in size.
  3. Gently knead the dough to release air, then divide it into three equal portions. Shape each portion into a baguette and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Cover with a kitchen towel and let rest for 20 minutes.
  4. Using a sharp knife, make 3 diagonal slashes on the top of each baguette. Splash a little water over each loaf and sprinkle lightly with flour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 200ºC (392ºF) and bake the baguettes for 30 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
  6. Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before slicing.
