Directions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the egg, milk, sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix well until smooth.
- Gradually add the flour and mix to form a sticky dough. Cover with a towel and let it rest for 20 minutes.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and begin kneading, gradually incorporating the softened butter. Knead for at least 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for another 20 minutes.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 2 mm thick. Grease the surface with butter. Shape as desired, then roll up and cut into pieces approximately 2 cm wide.
- Divide the pieces in half and place them into greased molds. Allow the dough to rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Brush the tops with beaten egg and a splash of milk. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
