Butter Bread

Directions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the egg, milk, sugar, salt, and yeast. Mix well until smooth.
  2. Gradually add the flour and mix to form a sticky dough. Cover with a towel and let it rest for 20 minutes.
  3. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and begin kneading, gradually incorporating the softened butter. Knead for at least 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rest for another 20 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough into a rectangle about 2 mm thick. Grease the surface with butter. Shape as desired, then roll up and cut into pieces approximately 2 cm wide.
  5. Divide the pieces in half and place them into greased molds. Allow the dough to rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  6. Brush the tops with beaten egg and a splash of milk. Bake in a preheated oven at 170°C (340°F) for 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
