Instructions

  1. Heat the butter or oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent and slightly golden, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet. Stir to combine with the onions and garlic.
  5. Season with salt, pepper, and optional smoked paprika or red pepper flakes.
  6. Cook uncovered, stirring occasionally, for 15–20 minutes, until the cabbage is tender and slightly caramelized. Adjust seasoning to taste.
