Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, eggs, flour, sugar, and milk. Mix until smooth and well incorporated.
- Grease a pudding bowl (plastic or heatproof) and pour your desired amount of treacle or golden syrup into the base.
- Pour the sponge mixture over the syrup in the bowl.
- Cover the bowl tightly with foil.
- Place the bowl in a slow cooker or steamer. Fill with boiling water so it reaches halfway up the sides of the pudding bowl.
- Cook on high in the slow cooker for approximately 2.5 hours, or steam until the sponge is firm and cooked through.
- Carefully remove the pudding from the cooker and allow it to cool slightly.
- Serve warm, optionally with custard, cream, or ice cream.
