Directions
- Prep the steak and onions: Pat the steak slices dry with paper towels. Slice the onions thinly and separate the rings.
- Caramelize the onions: In a large skillet, melt 1 tbsp butter with 1 tbsp olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and a pinch of salt. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 10–12 minutes, until soft and golden brown. Add garlic during the last 2 minutes of cooking. Remove onions from the skillet and set aside.
- Cook the steak: In the same skillet, heat the remaining butter and oil over medium-high heat. Add the steak slices in a single layer (cook in batches if needed to avoid overcrowding). Sear for 2–3 minutes per side, until browned but still tender. Sprinkle with smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Combine: Return the caramelized onions to the skillet with the steak. Add Worcestershire or soy sauce and toss to coat evenly. Cook together for 1–2 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Serve: Transfer the steak and onions to a serving platter. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley. Serve hot.
