Directions (Steps 1–4)
- Cook the beef: In a large deep skillet or sauté pan, melt 1 tbsp butter over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if necessary.
- Sauté aromatics: Push the beef to one side, add the remaining butter, then sauté onions until translucent, about 3–4 minutes. Stir in minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Add pasta and liquid: Pour in uncooked pasta, beef broth, and water. Stir to combine, making sure the pasta is submerged in the liquid. Sprinkle in salt, pepper, and dried Italian herbs.
- Simmer: Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce heat to medium-low. Cover partially and cook for 12–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
