Directions
- Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- In a small bowl, combine yeast, sugar, and lukewarm milk. Stir, cover, and let sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour and salt. Add cinnamon powder and raisins, then pour in melted butter and beaten eggs. Mix well.
- Pour the yeast mixture into the flour mixture and knead for about 10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.
- Cover the dough and place it in a warm spot for about 1 hour, or until it doubles in size.
- Punch down the dough, then knead briefly. Divide into tennis ball-sized portions and place on a greased or lined baking tray.
- For the cross, mix self-raising flour with milk to form a smooth paste. Transfer to a piping bag and pipe a cross over each bun.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30–40 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
