Homemade Pork Egg Rolls

Directions

  1. Season the meat: In a large bowl, mix ground pork with ginger and garlic powder until well combined.
  2. Cook the meat: Place the seasoned pork in a medium skillet over medium heat. Cook, stirring often, until browned and crumbly, about 5–7 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. Combine the filling: In a large bowl, mix the cooked pork with shredded cabbage and carrots until evenly distributed.
  4. Make the sealing paste: In a small bowl, combine the flour and water to form a smooth paste. This will help seal the egg rolls.
  5. Heat the oil: Pour peanut oil into a large skillet or pot and heat to 375°F (190°C) or medium-high heat.
  6. Assemble the egg rolls: Lay one egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with a corner pointing toward you (like a diamond). Place 1/4 to 1/3 cup of filling in the center. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold the left and right corners toward the center. Roll the egg roll away from you toward the top corner. Brush a small amount of the flour paste on the top corner to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers and filling.
  7. Fry the egg rolls: Carefully place egg rolls in hot oil, turning occasionally, until golden brown and crispy, 5–8 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels or a wire rack.
  8. Garnish and serve: Arrange egg rolls on a serving platter and sprinkle with sesame seeds, if desired. Serve warm with egg roll sauce, soy sauce, or sweet chili sauce.
