Ingredients
For the lasagna
- • 8 lasagna sheets, fresh or dry, no pre-cooking required
- • 800 g canned tomato pulp or crushed tomatoes (28 oz / about 3 1/2 cups)
- • 300 g ground beef (10.5 oz / about 2/3 lb)
- • 1 medium onion, finely chopped (about 150 g / 5 oz)
- • 1 clove garlic, minced
- • 30 ml olive oil (2 tablespoons / 1 fl oz)
- • 1 tablespoon mixed aromatic herbs (oregano, thyme, basil)
- • 100 g grated Emmental cheese (1 cup / 3.5 oz)
- • 2 sugar cubes (or 2 teaspoons sugar)
- • Salt and black pepper, to taste
For the béchamel sauce
- • 70 g butter (5 tablespoons / 2.5 oz)
- • 70 g all-purpose flour (1/2 cup / 2.5 oz)
- • 500 ml milk (2 cups / 17 fl oz)
- • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
- • Salt and black pepper, to taste
