Directions
Step 1: Prepare the Ribs
- Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C) if baking.
- Remove the silver skin from the back of the ribs for tenderness.
- Season the ribs lightly with salt and black pepper.
Step 2: Make the Sauce
- In a medium bowl, whisk together barbecue sauce, honey (or brown sugar), soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, ketchup, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper (if using).
Step 3: Marinate the Ribs
- Brush or pour half the sauce over the ribs.
- Marinate for at least 1 hour, or overnight in the fridge for deeper flavor.
Step 4: Cook the Ribs
Oven Method:
- Place ribs on a baking sheet lined with foil. Cover tightly with another piece of foil.
- Bake at 300°F (150°C) for 2.5–3 hours until tender.
- Remove top foil, brush with remaining sauce, and broil for 3–5 minutes to caramelize.
Grill Method:
- Preheat grill to medium heat.
- Cook ribs over indirect heat for 1.5–2 hours, covered, basting with sauce occasionally.
- Finish over direct heat 5–10 minutes for caramelization.
Step 5: Serve
Slice between the bones, brush with extra sauce if desired, and serve hot with sides like coleslaw, corn on the cob, or baked potatoes.
