Directions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the onions and bell peppers, sautéing until soft and slightly caramelized, about 5–7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Season the steak slices with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. In the same skillet, cook the steak slices for 2–3 minutes per side until browned but still tender.
  5. Reduce heat to low and return the sautéed peppers and onions to the skillet, mixing with the steak.
  6. Top the mixture with cheese slices, allowing them to melt. Cover the skillet with a lid to speed up melting, about 1–2 minutes.
  7. Split the rolls and toast lightly if desired.
  8. Spoon the steak, pepper, onion, and cheese mixture into each roll. Serve hot.
