Orange Jam

Directions

  1. Prepare the Oranges: Wash the oranges thoroughly. Peel them carefully, removing all the white pith, which can make the jam bitter. Chop the orange pulp into small pieces and remove any seeds.
  2. Prepare the Peel: Cut the orange peel into thin strips and add them to the chopped pulp.
  3. Cook the Fruit: Place the orange pulp and peel in a large pot over low heat. Cook gently for 40 minutes, stirring constantly to prevent sticking. The mixture should soften and release its juices.
  4. Add Sugar and Lemon: Stir in the sugar and the juice of one lemon. Continue cooking for another 10 minutes, stirring constantly, until the jam thickens and becomes glossy.
  5. Cool the Jam: Remove the pot from heat and allow the jam to cool completely at room temperature.
  6. Store: Transfer the cooled jam to sterilized jars. Store in a dry, cool place away from direct light. The jam is ready to enjoy!
