Ingredients

For the Olive Tapenade Mixture:

  • 1 cup green olives, chopped (150 g / 5.3 oz)
  • 1 cup giardiniera, chopped (or pickled peppers) (150 g / 5.3 oz)
  • 1/2 cup roasted red peppers, chopped (75 g / 2.6 oz)
  • 1 shallot, minced
  • 2 tablespoons capers (20 g / 0.7 oz)
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup olive oil (60 ml / 2 oz)
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar (30 ml / 1 oz)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried basil (1 g / 0.03 oz)
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano (1 g / 0.03 oz)

For the Muffaletta Sandwich:

  • 1 10-inch loaf round Italian bread (Muffaletta bread if available)
  • 1/2 pound sliced capicola (225 g / 8 oz) or deli ham
  • 1/2 pound sliced mortadella (225 g / 8 oz)
  • 1/2 pound sliced salami (225 g / 8 oz)
  • 1/2 pound sliced provolone cheese (225 g / 8 oz)
