Monterey Sausage Pie

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch (23 cm) deep-dish pie plate.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the sausage until no longer pink. Add garlic and cook 1 minute longer until fragrant. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in 2 cups of shredded cheese, then transfer the mixture into the prepared pie plate, spreading evenly.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together milk, eggs, biscuit mix, sage, and black pepper until smooth. Pour over the sausage mixture in the pie plate.
  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
  6. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheese over the top and bake an additional 1–2 minutes, just until melted.
  7. Allow the pie to stand for 10 minutes before cutting to serve.
