Homemade Frosting Recipes

Cream Cheese Frosting

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (115 g) butter, softened
  • 1 block (8 oz / 225 g) cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 3 cups (360 g) powdered sugar

Instructions:

  1. Beat butter and cream cheese together until smooth.
  2. Add salt and powdered sugar gradually, beating until creamy and spreadable.

Notes: Ideal for carrot cake, red velvet, or spice cake. Keep refrigerated if not using immediately.

Vanilla Frosting

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (225 g) butter, softened
  • 4 cups (480 g) powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) milk
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions:

  1. Cream butter until smooth.
  2. Gradually add powdered sugar, beating to combine.
  3. Mix in vanilla, milk, and salt. Beat until light and fluffy.

Notes: Classic all-purpose frosting that works on nearly any cake or cupcake. Adjust milk to reach your preferred consistency.
