Directions
- In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in warm milk. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt.
- Add the yeast mixture, condensed milk, egg, and softened butter to the flour.
- Mix until a soft dough forms, then knead for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for 1–1 1/2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and shape it into a loaf or divide into rolls.
- Place into a greased loaf pan or baking dish. Cover and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped.
- Remove from oven and brush with melted butter if desired. Cool slightly before slicing.
