Danish Butter Biscuits

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 175°C (350°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Cream butter and sugar: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes. Add vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  3. Add dry ingredients: Sift in the flour and salt, then gently fold it into the butter mixture until a soft, cohesive dough forms. Avoid overmixing to keep the biscuits tender.
  4. Shape the biscuits: Roll the dough into small balls, about 2.5 cm (1 inch) in diameter, and place them on the prepared baking sheet about 2.5 cm (1 inch) apart. Flatten each ball slightly with the back of a fork or your fingers.
  5. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden.
  6. Cool: Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Optional finishing touch: Once cooled, dust the biscuits lightly with powdered sugar for a delicate, elegant finish.
