Directions
- In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tsp sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Mix until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 1–1.5 hours, or until doubled in size.
- While the dough rises, prepare the cinnamon filling by mixing sugar, cinnamon, and softened butter until well combined.
- Roll the risen dough into a rectangle (about 30×20 cm / 12×8 inches). Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long edge to form a log. Pinch the seam to seal. Place in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise for another 30–40 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the loaf for 30–35 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through. Cool slightly in the pan before removing.
- Optional: Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla to make a glaze. Drizzle over warm bread before slicing.
