Directions
- Preheat the oven to 450°F (230°C).
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Mix well.
- Pour the buttermilk into the dry ingredients and mix until a moist dough forms.
- Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl. Pour it into an 8×8 or 9×9-inch baking dish, making sure the butter covers the bottom and edges.
- Place the dough into the dish on top of the melted butter. Use a spatula to spread it evenly so it touches the sides of the pan.
- Cut the unbaked dough into 9 squares. At this stage, the dough is “swimming” in butter, which will help it bake beautifully.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
