Best Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Directions

  1. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  2. Spread butter evenly on one side of each slice of bread.
  3. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the skillet.
  4. Layer the cheese slices evenly on top of the bread in the skillet.
  5. Place the second slice of bread on top, buttered side up.
  6. Cook until the bottom slice is golden brown and the cheese begins to melt, about 3–5 minutes.
  7. Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula.
  8. Cook the second side until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted, about 3–5 minutes more.
  9. Remove from the skillet and let cool for a minute.
  10. Cut in half if desired and serve hot.
