1. A Soldier Counting the Days

Nicole Amor, a 39-year-old U.S. soldier from White Bear Lake, was eagerly awaiting the moment she could return home to her husband and two children. After weeks of deployment, she was just days away from seeing her family again.

But the anticipated homecoming never came. According to the United States Department of Defense, Nicole was killed during an unmanned aircraft attack on Sunday in Port Shuaiba.
