Turkish Flatbread

Directions

  1. Prepare the Dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, yogurt, salt, water, and instant yeast. Stir until you obtain a soft, slightly sticky dough.
  2. Let It Rise: Coat the dough with vegetable oil, cover with plastic wrap, and leave it in a warm, dry place to rise until it doubles in size.
  3. Divide and Rest: Once the dough has risen, oil your hands, remove it from the bowl, and divide it into eight equal portions. Knead each ball briefly and let them rest for 15 minutes.
  4. Shape the Flatbreads: On a lightly floured surface, roll each ball into a circle about 20–25 cm (8–10 inches) in diameter.
  5. Cook the Bread: Heat a non-stick or cast-iron pan over medium heat. Cook each flatbread for 2–3 minutes on one side, until bubbles form, then flip and cook the other side until lightly golden and cooked through.
  6. Add Butter: While the bread is still warm, brush generously with melted butter to enhance flavor and softness.
  7. Serve: Serve immediately or keep warm under a clean kitchen towel while cooking the remaining flatbreads.
