  • 01 1 lb ground beef
  • 02 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 03 1/2 cup salsa
  • 04 1/4 cup diced canned green chilies (optional)
  • 05 12 slices bread
  • 06 1 tbsp butter
  • 07 1 lb Velveeta cheese

Steps

Step 01

Brown the ground beef in a medium-sized skillet over medium heat. Drain the fat and mix in the taco seasoning, preparing it according to the package directions. Stir in the salsa and green chilies (if using).

Step 02

Butter one side of each slice of bread. Cut the Velveeta into 6 equal pieces.

Step 03

In a large skillet over medium heat, place two slices of bread, buttered side down. Top each slice with one piece of Velveeta. Spoon 1/6 of the hamburger mixture onto the cheese, then place another slice of bread on top, buttered side up.

Step 04

Cook the sandwiches over medium heat until the bottom side is golden brown. Flip and cook the other side until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining ingredients until all sandwiches are prepared.

Tips

  • For a spicier variation, add sliced jalapenos or substitute pepper jack cheese.
