Soft Meatballs

Directions

  1. Preheat Oven (Optional): If baking after browning, preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Mix the Meat: In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, milk, Parmesan, parsley, egg, garlic, salt, pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix gently with your hands until just combined; do not overmix.
  3. Form Meatballs: Shape the mixture into 1 1/2-inch (4 cm) meatballs, about the size of a golf ball. Place on a plate or tray.
  4. Brown the Meatballs: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add meatballs in batches, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Brown on all sides, about 2–3 minutes per side. Remove and set aside.
  5. Simmer in Sauce: Pour marinara sauce into the same skillet (or a separate pot) and bring to a gentle simmer. Carefully add the browned meatballs. Cover and cook on low heat for 15–20 minutes until the meatballs are cooked through and tender.
  6. Optional Baking: For extra tenderness, transfer meatballs and sauce to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes after simmering.
  7. Serve: Serve the meatballs hot over spaghetti, in sandwiches, or alongside roasted vegetables. Sprinkle extra Parmesan and parsley on top if desired.
