Soft Dinner Rolls

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let stand for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Stir in sugar, melted butter, warm milk, and the egg until combined.
  3. Add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Knead dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Grease a baking tray or line with parchment paper.
  7. Divide dough into small golf ball-sized pieces and place them on the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  8. Brush rolls with melted butter and let them rise for another 15 minutes.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Brush warm rolls with additional melted butter immediately after removing from the oven. Serve warm, with extra butter if desired.
