Step 1: Prepare the Slow Cooker
Lightly spray the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 2: Layer the Ingredients
Place the cubed steak evenly in the bottom of the slow cooker. Scatter the sliced onions over the steak.
Step 3: Make the Gravy Base
In a bowl, whisk together the onion soup mix, beef broth, cream of mushroom soup, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper until smooth.
Pour the mixture evenly over the cubed steak and onions.
Step 4: Slow Cook
Cover and cook on LOW for 6–8 hours or HIGH for 3–4 hours, until the steak is very tender.
Step 5: Thicken the Gravy
About 30 minutes before serving, whisk together the cornstarch and cold water. Stir it into the slow cooker, cover, and continue cooking until the gravy thickens.
Step 6: Serve
Taste and adjust seasoning if needed. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve hot.
