Show-Stopping Strawberry Layered Dessert

Directions

1. Prepare the Yellow Custard:

  • In a saucepan, combine egg yolks, condensed milk, and milk.
  • Dilute cornstarch in a small amount of milk first, then add to the mixture.
  • Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and comes to a gentle boil. Remove from heat and allow to cool.

2. Prepare the Whipped Cream:

  • Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Gradually add sugar and continue whisking until smooth and glossy.
  • Gently fold in the cream to create a light, fluffy topping.

3. Prepare the Chocolate Topping:

  • Melt the dark chocolate over a double boiler or in the microwave in short intervals.
  • Stir in the cream until smooth and slightly thickened. Set aside.

4. Assemble the Dessert:

  • Place a layer of chopped strawberries at the bottom of your serving dish.
  • Spread a layer of yellow custard over the strawberries, followed by a layer of the egg-white cream.
  • Place a layer of cake on top and repeat the previous steps (strawberries, custard, whipped cream).
  • Finish with the chocolate topping, spreading evenly or piping with a pastry bag for decoration.
  • Decorate with additional fresh strawberries if desired.
