Directions
Step 1: Prepare the Meat
Season the meat with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes to absorb the flavors.
Step 2: Make the BBQ Sauce
In a medium saucepan, combine ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, red pepper flakes, and minced garlic. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened, about 5–7 minutes.
Step 3: Coat the Meat
Brush the BBQ sauce generously over the meat, ensuring all sides are covered. Reserve a little sauce for basting during cooking.
Step 4: Cook the Meat
Oven Method: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place meat on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake for 25–35 minutes for chicken or 40–50 minutes for pork ribs, basting with reserved sauce halfway through.
Grill Method: Preheat grill to medium heat. Grill meat 6–8 minutes per side for chicken, or 15–20 minutes per side for ribs, basting occasionally.
Step 5: Finish and Serve
Remove meat from oven or grill. Let rest for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with additional BBQ sauce on the side.
