Oreo Cake Balls

Instructions

  1. Crush the Oreo cookies: Place the cookies in a food processor, or put them in a sealed plastic bag and crush with a rolling pin until fine crumbs form.
  2. Mix with cream cheese: In a large bowl, combine the crushed cookies with the softened cream cheese. Mix thoroughly until the mixture forms a sticky, uniform dough.
  3. Shape into balls: Roll the mixture into 1-inch (2.5 cm) balls using your palms. Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Chill the balls: Refrigerate the shaped balls for about 30 minutes to firm up.
  5. Melt the chocolate or candy coating: Use a microwave-safe bowl or double boiler to melt the chocolate until smooth and liquid.
  6. Dip in chocolate: Coat each chilled ball completely in the melted chocolate, using a fork or toothpick to assist. Let excess chocolate drip off.
  7. Decorate (optional): Add sprinkles, crushed Oreos, or drizzle more melted chocolate on top if desired.
  8. Set and serve: Place the coated balls back on the parchment-lined baking sheet and let them set until the coating hardens. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
