My Father Was Bitten by a Strange Insect — And What Happened Next Still Gives Me Chills
I’m not someone who panics easily.
So when my father walked into the house one evening saying, “Something bit me outside,” I barely looked up.
Probably a mosquito. Maybe an ant. Nothing serious.
That’s what we thought.
We were wrong.
At first, it looked harmless — just a small red mark on his arm. He laughed it off, washed his hands, and sat down for dinner like nothing happened.
But within an hour… something changed.
He started saying the bite felt “weird.” Not painful exactly — just not normal. The skin around it looked slightly irritated. Then he mentioned feeling a strange fatigue, like his energy dropped suddenly.

I don’t know why, but I took a picture of it.
And that’s where everything started to feel wrong.
I searched online.
My hands literally froze.
The results showed something called an assassin bug — also known as the “kissing bug.”
And the more I read… the worse it got.
In some cases, these insects can carry a parasite linked to a serious disease called Chagas disease. The frightening part isn’t just the bite — it’s what can happen after. Infection can enter the body in ways people don’t expect.
