Directions
- Prepare the Coffee
Dissolve the coffee powder in about 2 tablespoons of hot water. Stir until fully dissolved and set aside to cool slightly. This coffee infusion will give the Tiramisu balls their signature rich flavor. - Crush the Cookies
Place the cat tongue cookies (or ladyfingers) in a ziplock bag and gently crush them with a rolling pin, or break them by hand into coarse crumbs. Aim for a crumbly texture, not fine powder. - Mix the Mascarpone Filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla sugar. Beat with a hand mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy. The filling should be velvety and thick. - Incorporate Coffee and Amaretto
Add the cooled coffee mixture and amaretto to the mascarpone filling. Stir until fully combined. If skipping alcohol, simply add a bit more coffee to maintain the flavor. - Add the Crushed Cookies
Gradually fold the crushed cookies into the mixture. The cookies absorb the liquid and mascarpone, creating a sticky dough-like consistency perfect for rolling. - Shape the Tiramisu Balls
Scoop portions of the mixture and roll into small balls about 1 inch (2–3 cm) in diameter. You should get roughly 15–20 balls depending on size. - Coat with Cocoa Powder
Place the cocoa powder in a shallow bowl and roll each ball until fully coated. This gives the classic tiramisu look and a lightly bitter contrast to the sweet filling. - Chill and Serve
Arrange the balls on a plate or tray and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. Chilling firms them up and allows the flavors to meld beautifully. Serve chilled and watch them disappear!
