Lemon Garlic Butter Steak and Broccoli Skillet

Directions

  1. Prep the skillet: Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and allow it to warm until shimmering.
  2. Season the steaks: Generously season both sides of your steaks with salt and pepper.
  3. Cook the steaks: Place the steaks in the hot skillet. Cook about 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust the time to your preferred doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set them aside to rest.
  4. Sauté the garlic: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, just until fragrant.
  5. Cook the broccoli: Add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir occasionally for 4–5 minutes until they are bright green, tender, but still crisp.
  6. Add lemon flavor: Squeeze the juice of the lemon over the broccoli and sprinkle the lemon zest on top. Stir to combine and coat the vegetables in the garlic butter.
  7. Slice the steak: Thinly slice the rested steaks against the grain.
  8. Combine steak and broccoli: Add the steak slices back into the skillet with the broccoli. Toss everything together for 1–2 minutes to heat the steak through and allow the flavors to meld.
  9. Finish and serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot, garnished with optional red pepper flakes or Parmesan cheese.
