Directions
- Prep the skillet: Preheat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil and allow it to warm until shimmering.
- Season the steaks: Generously season both sides of your steaks with salt and pepper.
- Cook the steaks: Place the steaks in the hot skillet. Cook about 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare, or adjust the time to your preferred doneness. Remove the steaks from the skillet and set them aside to rest.
- Sauté the garlic: In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute, just until fragrant.
- Cook the broccoli: Add the broccoli florets to the skillet. Stir occasionally for 4–5 minutes until they are bright green, tender, but still crisp.
- Add lemon flavor: Squeeze the juice of the lemon over the broccoli and sprinkle the lemon zest on top. Stir to combine and coat the vegetables in the garlic butter.
- Slice the steak: Thinly slice the rested steaks against the grain.
- Combine steak and broccoli: Add the steak slices back into the skillet with the broccoli. Toss everything together for 1–2 minutes to heat the steak through and allow the flavors to meld.
- Finish and serve: Taste and adjust seasoning with additional salt and pepper if needed. Serve hot, garnished with optional red pepper flakes or Parmesan cheese.
