Flowers with Jam

Directions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, butter, and sugar. Mix with your fingertips until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  2. Add the eggs and continue mixing to bring the dough together.
  3. Add the cold water gradually—just enough until the dough becomes smooth and homogeneous. If needed, add a little more water.
  4. Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 minutes to firm up.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  6. Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface using a rolling pin.
  7. Using a cookie cutter, cut circles about 5 cm (2 inches) in diameter.
  8. Place a small cube of guava paste in the center of each circle.
  9. Bring the edges of the dough slightly toward the center, pinching gently to form a flower-like shape that still leaves some of the jam visible.
  10. Arrange the cookies on a baking sheet.
  11. Bake for about 20 minutes or until lightly golden.
  12. Let cool completely, then sprinkle with powdered sugar before serving.
