Easy Homemade Hamburger Helper

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet with a lid, cook ground beef over medium-high heat until browned. Remove from pan, reserving 2 tablespoons of grease.
  2. Add diced onion and bell pepper to the skillet and cook 5 minutes until softened. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  3. Sprinkle in flour and stir for about 1 minute to cook the raw taste out.
  4. Slowly pour in the beef broth, stirring constantly and bringing it to a gentle boil.
  5. Add tomato sauce, oregano, basil, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and pasta. Cover with the lid and cook until pasta is tender, about 12–15 minutes. Add more broth if needed.
  6. Stir in heavy cream, shredded cheddar, and Velveeta until smooth and creamy.
  7. Return cooked ground beef to the skillet and cook 2 more minutes to heat through and combine flavors.
  8. Serve hot, straight from the skillet, garnished with parsley or extra shredded cheese if desired.
