Instructions
- Make the Filling
- In a bowl, mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and creamy.
- Fold in diced strawberries (or preserves) gently.
- Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for 15–20 minutes to firm up slightly.
- Assemble the Wontons
- Lay out a wonton wrapper on a clean surface.
- Place about 1 teaspoon of filling in the center.
- Brush the edges with beaten egg, then fold into a triangle or bring all corners together to form a pouch.
- Press edges firmly to seal. Repeat with remaining wrappers.
- Fry the Bites
- Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry a few wontons at a time for about 1–2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Remove and drain on paper towels.
- Serve
- Dust with powdered sugar and drizzle with melted chocolate or strawberry sauce.
- Serve warm — the creamy cheesecake center will be soft and delicious!
Tips
- Don’t overfill the wontons — they can burst during frying.
- If you prefer baking: brush with butter and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 10–12 minutes, until golden.
- These can be made ahead and frozen (uncooked), then fried straight from the freezer.
