Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Apples
Wash and peel the apples.
Cut into thick, fry-like slices (~1/2 inch wide).
Pat the slices dry to remove excess moisture.
Step 2: Set Up Coating Stations
Bowl 1: Flour
Bowl 2: Beaten eggs
Bowl 3: Panko breadcrumbs, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using)
Step 3: Coat the Apple Slices
Dip each slice in flour, shaking off excess.
Dunk in beaten eggs.
Coat in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to stick.
Step 4: Air Fry the Apple Fries
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3 minutes.
Arrange apple slices in a single layer (avoid overcrowding).
Air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy.
Step 5: Add Cinnamon Sugar (Optional)
Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
Toss the hot apple fries in the mixture for extra sweetness.
Step 6: Serve with Dips
Serve warm with caramel sauce or vanilla yogurt.
Tips for Success
Apple Selection: Granny Smith apples add a tart contrast, Honeycrisp give a sweeter base.
Crispy Coating: Dry the apple slices before coating to help the breading stick.
Storage: Best enjoyed fresh; store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day. Reheat in the air fryer 2–3 minutes for crispiness.
Layering: Don’t overcrowd the air fryer basket—air needs to circulate for even crisping.
These Crispy Air Fryer Apple Fries are the perfect combination of comfort food and healthy indulgence. The warm, spiced coating paired with naturally sweet apples makes them a delightful treat for any occasion.
