Cocoa Fried Swivels

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, sugar, and vanilla sugar until light and smooth.
  2. Add the oil and continue stirring until fully incorporated.
  3. Pour in the water, then gradually add the flour and baking powder.
  4. Knead the mixture into a smooth, soft dough.
  5. Divide the dough into two equal portions.
  6. To one portion, add the cocoa powder and knead until the color is uniform.
  7. Roll out each dough portion separately into thin, even rectangular sheets.
  8. Place the cocoa sheet on top of the plain sheet and gently press them together.
  9. Roll the stacked dough tightly into a log to create the swirl effect.
  10. Using a knife or thread, slice the log into even swivel rounds.
  11. Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the swivels until golden and crisp on all sides.
  12. Remove and drain on paper towels before serving.
