Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, sugar, and vanilla sugar until light and smooth.
- Add the oil and continue stirring until fully incorporated.
- Pour in the water, then gradually add the flour and baking powder.
- Knead the mixture into a smooth, soft dough.
- Divide the dough into two equal portions.
- To one portion, add the cocoa powder and knead until the color is uniform.
- Roll out each dough portion separately into thin, even rectangular sheets.
- Place the cocoa sheet on top of the plain sheet and gently press them together.
- Roll the stacked dough tightly into a log to create the swirl effect.
- Using a knife or thread, slice the log into even swivel rounds.
- Heat oil in a deep pan and fry the swivels until golden and crisp on all sides.
- Remove and drain on paper towels before serving.
