Classic Lasagne

Directions

  1. In a large saucepan, heat the oil over medium heat. Fry the chopped onion and minced garlic until translucent and fragrant.
  2. Add the minced meat, salt, paprika, BBQ spice, and black pepper. Cook until the meat is lightly browned.
  3. Stir in the tomato paste and red wine (or beef stock). Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  4. For the cheese sauce, melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour to form a smooth paste.
  5. Gradually whisk in the evaporated milk until the mixture is smooth and thickened. Season with salt to taste. Remove from heat and stir in the grated cheddar cheese until fully incorporated.
  6. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease an ovenproof dish.
  7. Layer the lasagne as follows: start with a thin layer of white sauce, then a layer of lasagne sheets, followed by meat sauce and creamy spinach. Repeat the layers, finishing with a final layer of white sauce. Sprinkle extra grated cheddar cheese on top.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly. Allow to cool for 5 minutes before slicing and serving.
