Directions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a donut pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix—the batter should be slightly thick but smooth.
- Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about ¾ full.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean. Let donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For the glaze, heat the cream until steaming and pour over the chopped chocolate. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
- Dip the cooled donuts into the chocolate glaze or drizzle on top. Add sprinkles or nuts if desired and let the glaze set before serving.
