Chocolate Donuts

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a donut pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix buttermilk, milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix—the batter should be slightly thick but smooth.
  5. Spoon or pipe the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about ¾ full.
  6. Bake for 12–15 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into a donut comes out clean. Let donuts cool in the pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. For the glaze, heat the cream until steaming and pour over the chopped chocolate. Let sit for 2 minutes, then stir until smooth.
  8. Dip the cooled donuts into the chocolate glaze or drizzle on top. Add sprinkles or nuts if desired and let the glaze set before serving.
