Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Make the Dough
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
    • In a large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until creamy.
    • Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla.
    • Gradually mix in dry ingredients until combined.
    • Stir in chocolate chips.
  3. Shape the Twists
    • Divide dough into small portions (about 1–2 tbsp each).
    • Roll each portion into long ropes (~6 inches).
    • Twist two ropes together gently and place on prepared baking sheet.
    • Optional: Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar for a shiny, sweet finish.
  4. Bake
    • Bake for 10–12 minutes, until edges are lightly golden but centers are soft.
    • Allow to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  5. Serve & Enjoy
    • Perfect with milk, coffee, or just by themselves.

Tips

  • Don’t overbake — these cookies stay soft and chewy when slightly underbaked.
  • For extra fun, try twisting in white chocolate chips or mini M&Ms.
  • Dough can be chilled for 30 minutes before baking to make shaping easier.
