Chicken and Stuffing Casserole

Directions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Stuffing:
In a medium bowl, combine the stuffing mix with chicken broth and melted butter. Stir until the stuffing absorbs the liquid and becomes moist but not soggy.
  3. Make the Sauce:
In a separate bowl, whisk together cream of chicken soup, sour cream, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  4. Assemble the Casserole:
Spread the shredded chicken evenly across the bottom of the prepared baking dish. If using vegetables, scatter them over the chicken. Pour the creamy sauce over the chicken and spread it evenly. Top with the prepared stuffing mixture, spreading it into an even layer.
  5. Bake to Perfection:
Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden and the casserole is bubbling around the edges.
  6. Serve and Enjoy:
Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Tips for Success

  • Pre-Cooked Chicken: Rotisserie or leftover roasted chicken saves time and adds flavor.
  • Stuffing Options: Try homemade stuffing, cornbread stuffing, or your favorite seasoned mix.
  • Add Vegetables: Incorporate fresh or frozen vegetables for extra nutrition and color.
  • Adjust Creaminess: Reduce milk slightly for a thicker sauce or add shredded cheese for richness.
