Cheesy Mashed Potato and Meatloaf Casserole

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, chopped onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix in the breadcrumbs and egg until everything is well combined.
  4. Transfer the beef mixture into the prepared baking dish and press it into an even layer.
  5. Spread the mashed potatoes evenly over the top of the beef layer.
  6. Sprinkle the grated cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon over the mashed potatoes.
  7. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10–15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  9. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving.
