Cheese Stuffed Meatloaf

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, bread crumbs (if using), grated onion, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined—overmixing can make the meatloaf tough.
  3. Take half of the meat mixture and shape it into a loaf directly on the prepared baking sheet, creating a flat, even base.
  4. Lay the cheese sticks evenly on top of the first meat layer, leaving a small space at each end so the cheese stays inside.
  5. Cover the cheese sticks with the remaining meat mixture and shape it into a loaf, making sure the edges are sealed so the cheese won’t leak out.
  6. Spread the ketchup evenly over the top of the meatloaf for a glossy, flavorful finish.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for beef or 165°F (74°C) for turkey.
  8. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing. This helps the meatloaf hold its shape and prevents the cheese from spilling out.
