Bread Rolls

Directions

  1. Whisk the warm milk with yeast and egg until combined.
  2. Add flour and salt, knead to form a rough dough, and set aside for 15 minutes.
  3. Incorporate the softened butter into the dough and knead for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Form the dough into a ball, cover, and let it rest in a warm place for 1 hour until doubled in size.
  5. Divide the dough into 9 equal pieces and roll each into a ball.
  6. Roll out each piece of dough and fill with jam, forming a neat roll.
  7. Place the rolls into a greased 20 cm (8-inch) baking pan and let them rise for 1 hour.
  8. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Brush the rolls with egg wash.
  9. Bake for 12–15 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and cool slightly before serving.
