Apple Dumplings with 7Up

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Butter a 13 x 9-inch (33 x 23 cm) baking dish and set aside.
  2. Peel and core the apples, then cut each apple into 8 even slices.
  3. Take a crescent roll and wrap each apple slice individually, sealing the edges gently to hold the apple inside.
  4. Arrange the wrapped apple slices in the prepared baking dish, leaving a small gap between each dumpling.
  5. In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla. Cook for 2–3 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly. Remove from heat.
  6. Pour the syrup mixture over the dumplings, distributing evenly, and then carefully pour the 7Up around the edges of the pan—not directly over the dumplings—to keep the rolls intact.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 35–45 minutes, or until the dumplings are golden brown and bubbly.
  8. Remove from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
