  • Salt, to taste

  • 5 medium potatoes, peeled and cut into medium pieces
  • 4 medium carrots, peeled and cut into medium pieces
  • 2 large onions, peeled and cut into medium pieces
  • 2 glasses (480 ml) white wine
  • ½ cup (120 ml) water or vegetable stock
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 pinch ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon lard
