Pizza Burger Pie

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion together until the beef is browned and the onions are soft, about 7–10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
  3. Stir in the salt, Italian seasoning, and pizza sauce. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the mixture is heated through.
  4. Roll out the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch (23 cm) pie pan. Trim any excess dough around the edges.
  5. Spoon the beef and sauce mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
  6. Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the beef mixture. Add any optional toppings if desired.
  7. Cover with a second layer of pie crust if desired, or leave open-faced. If using a top crust, brush lightly with a beaten egg for a golden finish and cut a few slits to vent steam.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
