Directions
- Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and chopped onion together until the beef is browned and the onions are soft, about 7–10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Stir in the salt, Italian seasoning, and pizza sauce. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until the mixture is heated through.
- Roll out the pie crust and place it in a 9-inch (23 cm) pie pan. Trim any excess dough around the edges.
- Spoon the beef and sauce mixture into the crust, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the beef mixture. Add any optional toppings if desired.
- Cover with a second layer of pie crust if desired, or leave open-faced. If using a top crust, brush lightly with a beaten egg for a golden finish and cut a few slits to vent steam.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before slicing.
