Old-School Pizza Burgers

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill or stovetop pan over medium-high heat.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef or sausage with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and dried oregano. Mix until well combined.
  3. Shape the meat into burger patties, sized to fit your hamburger buns.
  4. In a small saucepan, combine the tomato sauce, oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Warm over low heat, stirring occasionally.
  5. Cook the burger patties on the grill or stovetop until they reach your desired doneness.
  6. While the patties cook, toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.
  7. When the burgers are nearly done, spoon a generous amount of pizza sauce on each patty.
  8. Top each patty with a slice or shredded mozzarella cheese. Cover to allow the cheese to melt and the sauce to warm through.
  9. Assemble the pizza burgers by placing the cheesy patty on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Add your favorite pizza toppings and place the top bun to complete.
  10. Serve hot and enjoy the gooey, flavorful combination of pizza and burger in every bite.
