Directions
Step 1: Choose Your Mug or Bowl
Select a microwave-safe mug or small bowl with enough room for the muffin to rise. Lightly grease it with oil or butter to prevent sticking.
Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients
Add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt directly into the mug or bowl. Stir with a fork until evenly combined and lump-free.
Step 3: Add the Wet Ingredients
Pour in the milk, oil (or melted butter), and vanilla extract. Stir gently until a smooth batter forms. The batter should be thick but pourable.
Step 4: Customize the Flavor
Fold in your chosen add-ins, such as chocolate chips, fruit, or nuts. As you stir, you’ll notice the batter becoming slightly heavier and more fragrant.
Step 5: Microwave
Place the mug or bowl in the microwave and cook on high for 90 seconds to 2 minutes, depending on your microwave’s power. The muffin should rise and set in the center.
Step 6: Check for Doneness
Insert a toothpick or fork into the center. If it comes out mostly clean, the muffin is ready. If not, microwave in 10-second increments.
Step 7: Rest Briefly
Let the muffin rest for about 30 seconds. This allows the texture to settle and makes it easier to remove or eat.
Step 8: Enjoy
Enjoy straight from the mug or gently loosen the edges and turn it out onto a plate for a classic muffin feel.
